Progress has been made under the special programme for the protection of leaders, members and survivors of the Unión Patriótica (Patriotic Union, UP) and the Colombian Communist Party, established in late # as part of the search for an amicable settlement in the case currently before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights: programme measures include communications, armouring and security for head offices and residences, humanitarian assistance, tickets for domestic and international travel, assistance with moving and funeral expenses, bullet-proof vests, travel expenses, production projects, accommodation and maintenance expenses, advice on implementation of production projects, and psychosocial care

En relación con el Programa Especial de Protección Integral para dirigentes, miembros y sobrevivientes de la Unión Patriótica y del Partido Comunista Colombiano, creado a finales del año # en el marco de la búsqueda de una solución amistosa en el caso que se ventila ante la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, se pueden mencionar los siguientes avances: las líneas de acción del Programa consisten en medios de comunicación, blindaje y seguridad de sedes y de residencias, ayudas humanitarias, tiquetes nacionales e internacionales, auxilios de mudanzas, auxilios funerarios, chalecos antibalas, viáticos, proyectos productivos, gastos de estadía y manutención, asesoría para la realización de proyectos productivos y atención psicosocial
