During the Pinedale glaciation, the landscape visible today was created as glaciers from the Yellowstone Plateau flowed south and formed Jackson Lake, while smaller glaciers descending from the Teton Range pushed rock moraines out from the canyons and left behind lakes near the base of the mountains.

Ad esempio, durante la glaciazione di Pinedale il paesaggio ancora oggi visibile nel parco è stato creato da ghiacciai che discendevano dal Yellowstone Plateau che scorrevano verso sud a formare il lago Jackson, mentre i piccoli ghiacciai che scendevano dalle cime del Teton Range spinsero le rocce moreniche fuori dal canyon, lasciando alla base delle montagne dei laghetti.
