India supports freedom of navigation in and overflight above international waters while maintaining that sovereignty issues must be resolved peacefully in accordance with accepted principles of international law, including the United Nations’ Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982.

भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुद्री सीमा के भीतर नौकायन तथा इसके ऊपर उड़ान भरने की स्वतंत्रता का समर्थन करता है परन्तु भारत इस बात का भी पक्षधर है कि सम्प्रभुता संबंधी मुद्दों को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कानून के स्वीकृत सिद्धांतों, जिसमें संयुक्त राष्ट्र समुद्री कानून अभिसमय 1982 भी शामिल है, के अनुरूप शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से सुलझाया जाना चाहिए।
