Vyčnívající čelní plocha Ap je definována analogicky k definici referenční čelní plochy vozidla, tj jako celková plocha kolmých průmětů zpětných zrcátek vozidla, rukojetí, střešních držáků zavazadel a jiných vnějších výčnělků na rovinu jednak kolmou podélné rovině vozidla, jednak kolmou k rovině, na které vozidlo stojí

The protuberance frontal area, Ap, is defined in a manner analogous to the definition of the vehicle reference frontal area, i.e, the total area of the orthogonal projections of the vehicle mirrors, handles, roof racks, and other protuberances on to a plane perpendicular to both the longitudinal plane of the vehicle and the surface upon which the vehicle is positioned
