Spanish newspaper El Español(1) has revealed that the spokesperson for the Partido Popular in the Spanish Senate, Ignacio Cosidó, assured fellow senators in a WhatsApp message that they would manipulate the trial of the Catalan leaders who organised the 1 October referendum on Catalonian independence ‘from behind the scenes’.
