Využívá-li trolejbus i motor, který nemá nulové emise – např. když v době, kdy není připojen k elektrické síti, využívá dieselový motor – považuje se podobně jako plug-in hybridní autobus stále za čisté vozidlo.

When a trolleybus also uses a non-zero-emission engine — e.g. when a diesel engine is used to allow the bus to run while not connected to the grid — it is still counted as a clean vehicle, similarly to a plug-in hybrid bus.
