Quando infine speravate di raccogliere i frutti di una lunga e dolorosa semina, vedendo ognuno dei fedeli divenire un «altro Cristo» lungo le strade della vita, ecco che un Cristo oltraggiato, perseguitato e martoriato in molte sue membra, vi venne lasciato fra le braccia, a somiglianza di quanto era accaduto in passato alla che i vivi negavano loro, di mettere in salvo e proteggere i sopravvissuti, di invitare alla conversione i prevaricatori e di mantenere accesa in tutti la luce della speranza.
