وكانت الأزمات ناجمة عن الأعمال الخطيرة التي تقوم بها العصابات المسلحة (مثل اختطاف ثلاثة ألمان من العاملين في مجال المساعدة، واللجوء إلى القوة لمنع المرشح الرئاسي هوراسيو سيربا من الدخول إلى المنطقة المجردة من السلاح، واغتيال وزيرة الثقافة السابقة كونسويلو أروخو نوغيرا) كما كانت أيضاً حصيلة الاتهامات بعدم الوفاء بالشروط المتفق عليها.

The crises resulted from the grave acts carried out by the guerrillas (such as the kidnapping of three German aid workers, the use of force in order to deny entry to presidential candidate Horacio Serpa into the demilitarized zone and the murder of former Minister of Culture Consuelo Araújo Noguera), and also from accusations of non‐fulfilment of the agreed conditions.

Las crisis se originaron no sólo en graves hechos cometidos por la guerrilla (como el secuestro de tres cooperantes alemanes, el empleo de la fuerza para impedir el ingreso del candidato presidencial Horacio Serpa a la zona de distensión y el homicidio de la ex Ministra de Cultura Consuelo Araújo Noguera), sino también en mutuas acusaciones de incumplimiento de los términos acordados.

Les crises ont été dues non seulement aux actes graves commis par la guérilla (comme l’enlèvement de trois coopérants allemands, l’emploi de la force pour empêcher l’accès du candidat à la présidence Horacio Serpa à l’enclave démilitarisée et l’assassinat de l’ancienne Ministre de la culture (Consuelo Araujo Noguera), mais également aux accusations mutuelles de non-respect des conditions fixées.
