واعترافاً من سري لانكا بضرورة الإعمال الكامل لحقوق الإنسان، تعهدت في الاستعراض الدوري الشامل لعام 2008 بتنفيذ خطة عمل وطنية لتعزيز حقوق الإنسان وحمايتها (خطة العمل الوطنية)، سعياً إلى الإنفاذ الكامل لمقاصد واضعي دستورنا الأصلي.
