The method comprises contacting a sample of the donor blood or a blood product with a set of binding agents that comprises binding agents that specifically bind to Gram-negative bacterial antigen and/or binding agents that specifically bind to Gram-positive bacterial antigen, and determining binding of the set of binding agents to the sample, wherein binding indicates the presence of a clinically relevant amount of Gram-positive bacteria and/or Gram-negative bacteria in the donor blood or blood product and no binding indicates the absence of a clinically relevant amount of Gram-positive bacteria and/or Gram-negative bacteria in the donor blood or blood product.

La méthode consiste à mettre en contact un échantillon de sang du donneur ou un produit sanguin avec un ensemble d'agents de fixation comprenant des agents de fixation se fixant spécifiquement à des antigènes bactériens Gram négatif, et/ou des agents de fixation se fixant spécifiquement à des antigènes bactériens Gram positif, et à déterminer la fixation de l'ensemble d'agents de fixation à l'échantillon, la fixation indiquant la présence d'une quantité importante d'un point de vue clinique de bactéries Gram positif et/ou de bactéries Gram négatif dans le sang ou un produit sanguin du donneur, et l'absence de fixation indiquant l'absence d'une quantité importante d'un point de vue clinique de bactéries Gram positif et/ou de bactéries Gram négatif dans la sang ou un produit sanguin du donneur.
