Heat treatment of low-carbon, unalloyed or low-alloyed steels includes one or more cycles, in which the steel is heated (S1) to a temperature (Tp) above the Ac3 temperature and is cooled back to a temperature (Te1, Te3) below the Ac1 temperature or a higher temperature, at which not more than one half of the structure of the steel consists of austenite, so that the holding time (td) above the Ac3 temperature is typically of the order of a few seconds or a few tens of seconds, and not more than 5 minutes.

Le traitement thermique d'aciers doux, non alliés ou faiblement alliés comporte un ou plusieurs cycles au cours desquels l'acier est chauffé (S1) à une température (Tp) supérieure à la température Ac3 et est refroidi à une température (Te1, Te3) inférieure à la température Ac1 ou à une température plus élevée, à laquelle la moitié au plus de la structure de l'acier est constituée d'austénite, si bien que le temps de maintien (td) au-dessus de la température Ac3 est typiquement de l'ordre de quelques secondes ou de quelques dizaines de secondes, mais ne dépasse pas 5 minutes.
