The Act provides an individual with the right to access his/her own health information, to request correction or amendment of that information, and access to a third party arbiter in situations where the individual believes that health information was inappropriately collected, used, disclosed or protected.

La ley reconoce al individuo el derecho a acceder a la información sobre su salud, a solicitar que se corrija esa información, y a recurrir a un árbitro cuando considere que esa información se ha reunido, utilizado, difundido o protegido de manera inadecuada.

Aux termes de la loi, chacun a un droit d’avoir accès aux renseignements médicaux le concernant, de demander que ces renseignements soient corrigés ou modifiés, et de recourir à une tierce partie arbitre dans des cas où, selon l’intéressé, les renseignements en question n’ont pas été recueillis, utilisés, divulgués ou protégés comme il convient.
