In this context, the Government has implemented the comprehensive health-care system (SIAS) as the political, organizational, technical, administrative and programmatic mechanism adopted by the public health system with a view to planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and assessing health programmes and activities for the promotion of health, the prevention of illness, and recovery and rehabilitation of health in Guatemala's population, on the basis of the health policies and objectives defined by the State and ratified in the Peace Agreements

En este contexto, el Gobierno de la República ha puesto en marcha el Sistema Integral de Atención en Salud (SIAS), como forma política, organizativa, tecnicoadministrativa y programática, que adopta el sistema público en salud con el propósito de planificar, organizar, dirigir, monitorear y evaluar programas y acciones de salud orientadas a la promoción de la misma; prevención de la enfermedad y recuperación y rehabilitación de la salud de la población guatemalteca, con base a las políticas y objetivos de salud definidas por el Estado y ratificadas en los acuerdos de paz
