وأشار الائتلاف الكندي للتعبير عن الرأي إلى إقرار تشريع في عام 2012 يلغي الحماية التشريعية المكفولة لحقوق الإنسان في كندا من الخطاب المحرض على الكراهية (الفقرة 13 من القانون الكندي لحقوق الإنسان) مما يستبعد إجراءً إدارياً وتنظيمياً للتصدي للخطاب المحرض على الكراهية ويبقي على وسيلة الانتصاف الجنائية فقط.

Voices-Voix (VV) indicated that in 2012, legislation was passed repealing Canada's legislative human rights protection against hate speech (Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act), thus eliminating an administrative and regulatory response to hate speech and leaving a criminal remedy only.
