In order to discharge the filter capacitor (230) and the smoothing capacitor (232), the MG-ECU (172) controls the converter (200) so as to alternately repeat the turning on/off of an npn-type transistor (250) on a lower arm of an IPM (204), and the turning on/off of an npn-type transistor (240) on an upper arm of the IPM (204), in a manner such that the upper arm npn-type transistor (240) is on is on for a longer time than the lower arm npn-type transistor (250).
