Since August # the Balkans Unit added another dimension to its post-conflict activities by turning attention to the environmental conditions in the neighbouring countries- Albania and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Two additional post-conflict assessments were conducted which focused on environmental impacts of the Kosovo refugee influxes, the countries' institutional capacities for environmental protection, and the identification of environmental hot spots
