وفيما يتعلق بكلمة ممثل جمهورية كوريا، فإن الحقائق الأساسية التي يتعين على الدول الأعضاء وضعها في الاعتبار هي أنه كانت توجد 461 2 وظيفة شاغرة في الأمانة العامة حتى 30 حزيران/يونيه 2001، وأن الشواغر التي تنشأ، لأسباب لا علاقة لها بالتقاعد تتيح المزيد من الفرص لإضافة “دماء جديدة” بالمقارنة مع الشواغر التي تنشأ عن بلوغ السن الإلزامية لإنهاء الخدمة.

With regard to the statement made by the representative of the Republic of Korea, the central facts for Member States to bear in mind were that there had been 2,461 vacant posts in the Secretariat as at 30 June 2001 and that vacancies arising from non-retirement sources would offer greater opportunities for injecting “new blood” than those arising from mandatory separations.

En cuanto a la declaración formulada por el representante de la República de Corea, los hechos fundamentales que los Estados Miembros deben tener presentes son que hasta el 30 de junio de 2001 había en la Secretaría 2.461 puestos vacantes y que las vacantes creadas por razones distintas de la jubilación ofrecerán más oportunidades de inyectar “sangre nueva” que las derivadas de las separaciones obligatorias.

En ce qui concerne la déclaration faite par le représentant de la République de Corée, le fait essentiel que les États Membres doivent prendre en considération est qu’il existait 2 461 postes vacants au Secrétariat au 30 juin 2001 et que les vacances créées par des raisons autres que le passage à la retraite offrent de plus grandes possibilités de « rajeunissement » que cessation obligatoire du service.

Что же касается заявления представителя Республики Корея, то государствам-членам следует иметь в виду прежде всего то, что по состоянию на 30 июня 2001 года в Секретариате оставалась вакантной 2461 должность и что вакансии, обеспечиваемые за счет источников, не связанных с выходом сотрудников на пенсию, открывают бόльшие возможности для «вливания свежей крови», чем вакансии, обеспечиваемые обязательным прекращением службы.
