وقد استضاف الوفد في 25 أيلول/سبتمبر 2006 اجتماعا لفريق من الخبراء تحت شعار ”حرية تكوين الجمعيات: رد فعل دولي شديد مناهض للمنظمات غير الحكومية، والدور الذي يتعين على محفل الأمم المتحدة للديمقراطية القيام به دفاعا عنها“، مع تسليط الضوء على بعض الناشطين في ميدان حقوق الإنسان من جمهورية فنزويلا البوليفارية وفييت نام والجزائر، والتقت المنظمة أيضا بمقررين خاصين وبمندوبين حكوميين.

The group hosted a panel event on 25 September 2006, “Freedom of Association: International Backlash against NGOs, and the Role The United Nations Democracy Caucus Should Play to Defend It,” highlighting human rights activists from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Viet Nam, and Algeria, and met with Special Rapporteurs, as well as government delegates.

El 25 de septiembre de 2006 el grupo auspició una mesa redonda sobre la libertad de asociación, la reacción internacional contra las organizaciones no gubernamentales y el papel que debería desempeñar en su defensa el grupo pro democracia de las Naciones Unidas, en la que participaron activistas pro derechos humanos procedentes de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, Viet Nam y Argelia que se reunieron con relatores especiales y con delegados de los gobiernos.
