Jede Orthosulfatgruppe (H4SO6), durch Assoziation von 2 H2O und einem Metasulfatrest (SO4) gebildet, gibt sich im IR-Absorptionsspektrum durch Verschiebung der Metasulfatbanden gegen die niederen Frequenzen bei 1100 cm−1 und durch Schwingungen der dem Orthosulfatrest zugehörigen OH-Gruppen bei 2432 und 2860 cm−1 zu erkennen.

Each orthosulfate group SO6H4, formed by the association of two molecules of water and one metasulfate radical SO4 shows its individuality in the infrared absorption spectra by a displacement of the metasulfate bands toward the lower frequencies at 1100 cm−1 and by the vibrations 2432 and 2860 cm−1 of the associated OH groups of the SO6H4 skeleton.
