The method comprising softening an optical fiber matrix by heating, drawing an optical fiber (11) downward from the matrix, covering the optical fiber (11) with a coating, axially twisting the optical fiber by means of a rocking guide roller (13) which periodically rocks is characterized in that the rocking amplitude at the roller face (13a) of the rocking guide roller (13) where the optical fiber (11) comes into contact first is in a range between ±7 mm and ±0.5 mm in a direction perpendicular to the vertical.

Selon le procédé, on ramollit par chauffage une matrice de fibre optique, on étire une fibre optique (11) vers le bas depuis ladite matrice, on recouvre la fibre avec un revêtement et on la tord axialement au moyen d'un rouleau de guidage oscillant (13) à oscillation périodique. Le procédé est caractérisé par le fait que l'amplitude d'oscillation, au niveau de la face (13a) du rouleau oscillant (13) avec laquelle la fibre entre d'abord en contact, est comprise entre ± 7 mm et ± 0,5 mm dans une direction perpendiculaire à la verticale.
