Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung eines porösen metallorganischen Gerüstmaterials enthaltend mindestens eine erste und gegebenenfalls eine zweite organische Verbindung, wobei zumindest die erste organische Verbindung zumindest teilweise zweizähnig an mindestens ein Metallion koordinativ bindet, wobei das mindestens eine Metallion Mg (II) ist und wobei sich die erste organische Verbindung von Ameisensäure und die zweite organische Verbindung von Essigsäure ableitet, zur Speicherung oder Abtrennung von Methan.
