A paper web (12) in a paper machine including a yankee dryer (10) is dried and the moisture profile thereof controlled by arraying a plurality of gas burners (30) in a cross-machine direction within the hood (16) of the yankee dryer to direct heat toward different incremental width portions (23) of the paper web.

On sèche la bande de papier (12) d'une machine à papier équipée d'un sécheur Yankee (10) et on contrôle le profil d'humidité de la bande en disposant une pluralité de brûleurs à gaz (12) transversalement par rapport à la machine, à l'intérieur de la hotte (16) du sécheur Yankee. Chaque brûleur sèche une portion de largeur différente (23) de la bande de papier.
