والاضطرابات الناجمة عن نقص اليود شائعة أيضاً واضطراب الغدة الدرقية يقدَّر بنسبة 3 في المائة؛ ونقص اليود في البول بنسبة 50 في المائة بين الأطفال في سِن الدراسة و 87 في المائة بين الأطفال الذين لديهم حاصل ذكاء منخفض في مناطق يرتفع فيها نقص اليود.

Iodine deficiency disorders are also common and it is estimated that cretinism is at 3 percent; urinary iodine deficiency is at 50 percent in school children and 87 percent of children have low intelligence quotient in areas with high iodine deficiency.
