William Botterell collected his material on the ledgends, folktales and folklore of West Cornwall during the second half of the 19th century, when story-telling was the television of its day. He found tales of the ‘Little-People’, witches, changelings, a magician-alchemist, mermaids, pirates, and gost-ships.
