Deshalb sollten die geltenden Reinheitskriterien für E 400 Alginsäure, E 401 Natriumalginat, E 402 Kaliumalginat, E 403 Ammoniumalginat, E 404 Calciumalginat und E 405 Propylenglykol-Alginat dahin geändert werden, dass der Höchstwert für Formaldehydrückstände auf 50 mg/kg festgesetzt wird.
Therefore the existing purity criteria for E400 alginic acid, E401 sodium alginate, E402 potassium alginate, E403 ammonium alginate, E404 calcium alginate, and E405 propane-1,2-diol alginate should be amended in such a way that the maximum level of formaldehyde is set at 50 mg/kg.

(2) Gemäß der Richtlinie 95/2/EG des Europäischen Parlaments und des Rates vom 20. Februar 1995 über andere Lebensmittelzusatzstoffe als Farbstoffe und Süßungsmittel(2) ist die Verwendung der Lebensmittelzusatzstoffe E 400 Alginsäure, E 401 Natriumalginat, E 402 Kaliumalginat, E 403 Ammoniumalginat, E 404 Calciumalginat, E 405 Propylenglykol-Alginat, E 406 Agar-Agar, E 407 Carrageen, E 407a Verarbeitete Eucheuma-Algen, E 410 Johannisbrotkernmehl, E 412 Guarkernmehl, E 413 Traganth, E 414 Gummi arabicum, E 415 Xanthan, E 417 Tarakernmehl und/oder E 418 Gellan in Lebensmitteln unter bestimmten Bedingungen zulässig.
(2) Directive 95/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 February 1995 on food additives other than colours and sweeteners(3), as last amended by Regulation (EC) No 1882/2003(4), authorises the use of the food additives E 400 alginic acid, E 401 sodium alginate, E 402 potassium alginate, E 403 ammonium alginate, E 404 calcium alginate, E 405 propane 1,2-diol alginate, E 406 agar, E 407 carrageenan, E 407a processed euchema seaweed, E 410 locust bean gum, E 412 guar gum, E 413 tragacanth, E 414 acacia gum, E 415 xanthan gum, E 417 tara gum and/or E 418 gellan gum in foodstuffs under certain conditions.
