The 1911 edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica observed that the cinnamon produced from this species in other places did not approach ‘that grown in Ceylon’, noting by contrast that ‘“Ceylon Cinnamon” of fine quality is a very thin smooth bark, with a light-yellowish brown colour, a highly fragrant odour, and a peculiarly sweet, warn and pleasing aromatic taste’.
In de Encyclopedia Britannica editie 1911 staat dat de op andere plekken geproduceerde kaneel van deze soort niet in de buurt kwam van “die geteeld op Ceylon”, waarbij wordt opgemerkt dat ““Ceylon cinnamon” van goede kwaliteit een zeer dunne gladde bast is met een lichtgele of bruine kleur, een zeer welriekende geur en een bijzonder zoete, zachte en aangename aromatische smaak”.EuroParl2021 EuroParl2021
