Central Honshū cultivated rice and special products including white mulberry (for silkworms) in Suwa, tea, (in Shizuoka), daikon in Aichi, and also rye, rice, grapes for wine, etc. Due to subtropical conditions, Shikoku and Kyūshū islands were dominated by traditional rice and sweet potato crops.
