1 By application lodged at the Court Registry on 4 September 2000, the Commission of the European Communities brought an action under Article 226 EC for a declaration that by awarding the quality label `Markenqualität aus deutschen Landen' (quality label for produce made in Germany) to finished products of a certain quality produced in Germany, the Federal Republic of Germany has failed to fulfil its obligations under Article 30 of the EC Treaty (now, after amendment, Article 28 EC).
