Carpegna is subject to light but constant winds as a result of the breeze from the Adriatic Sea — blocked at altitude, but protected by the barrier formed by the initial Apennine foothills — which carry the essences of the specific Mediterranean mountain microflora of the area, mixing beech, hornbeam, holly with fleur-de-lis, anemone and many orchid species conserved and maintained for centuries by the nature reserve.
