Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to determine the chemical composition of essential oils (EO) isolated by microwave-radiation-assisted hydrodistillation (MWHD) of Artemisia dracunculus, Foeniculum vulgare, Illicium verum, Lippia micromera, Lippia origanoides, Ocimum sp., Plectranthus amboinicus, Tagetes filifolia, Tagetes lucida and Thymus vulgaris. in vitro antioxidant capacity values using ABTS+ discoloration assays (traditional and microplate methods) and the linoleic acid oxidation (with O2 and Fe+2) of these essential oils were obtained.
