whereas the journalist and human rights activist Rafael Marques was condemned on 28 May 2015 to a 6-month jail term suspended for two years for the publication in 2011 of the book, ‘Blood Diamonds: Corruption and Torture in Angola’, which detailed more than 100 killings and hundreds of cases of torture allegedly perpetrated by security guards and soldiers in the diamond fields of the Lundas region; whereas the complaints submitted by Marques to the Public Prosecutor concerning human rights violations in the Lundas region were not subject to investigation;
ottaa huomioon, että toimittaja ja ihmisoikeusaktivisti Rafael Marques tuomittiin 28. toukokuuta 2015 kuudeksi kuukaudeksi vankeuteen ja kahden vuoden ehdolliseen vankeusrangaistukseen siksi, että hän oli vuonna 2011 julkaissut kirjan nimeltä ”Blood Diamonds: Corruption and Torture in Angola”, jossa kuvattiin yli sata tappoa ja satoja kidutustapauksia, joihin vartijoiden ja sotilaiden väitettiin syyllistyneen Lundasin alueen timanttikentillä; ottaa huomioon, että Marquesin yleiselle syyttäjälle toimittamia valituksia Lundasin alueella tapahtuneista ihmisoikeusloukkauksista ei otettu tutkittaviksi;eurlex-diff-2017 eurlex-diff-2017
