Nuclear fuels are obtained from inorganic minerals extracted by mining. Nuclear fuels, such as uranium, are destroyed by a process of spontaneous disintegration, called fission, and prompted by natural radioactivity. In a man-made nuclear reactor the energy-releasing processes of disintegration, which in the natural state happen slowly over thousands of millions of years, are compressed into minutes. The release of energy is harnessed to generate steam which drives electricity generators. (Source: WRIGHT)
(4) Under that law, nuclear fuel used for the commercial production of electricity is subject to the duty on nuclear fuel.
Tämän lain mukaan ydinpolttoaine, jota käytetään kaupalliseen sähköntuotantoon, on ydinpolttoaineveron alainen.
Reprocessing irradiated nuclear fuel separates plutonium and uranium from intensely radioactive fission products and other transuranic elements.
