In that declaration the Community acknowledged that in order to adapt its industrial sector to the new competitive situation created by the Customs Union and improve its infrastructure linkage with the European Union (road transport, ports, airports, railways, telecommunications and electricity), as well as to reduce the difference between its economy and that of the Community, Turkey would need substantial financial resources, in particular long-term loans and technical assistance.
In deze verklaring heeft de Gemeenschap erkend dat Turkije - voor de aanpassing van zijn industriële sector aan de nieuwe concurrentiesituatie die ingevolge de Douane-Unie ontstaat, en voor een betere aansluiting van zijn infrastructuur op die van de Europese Unie (wegvervoer, havens, luchthavens, spoorwegen, telecommunicatie, elektriciteit) alsook voor het verkleinen van het verschil tussen de Turkse economie en die van de Gemeenschap - aanzienlijke financiële middelen nodig zal hebben, met name lange-termijnleningen en technische bijstand.EurLex-2 EurLex-2
