“사다새는 배를 채우면 종종 멀리 외딴 곳으로 날아가, 머리를 어깨까지 푹 파묻고는 수심에 잠긴 듯한 자세를 취하며 ··· 그런 자세를 한번 취하면 여러 시간 그대로 있기 때문에, 시편 필자가 자기의 뼈에 사무치는 슬픔을 수심에 잠겨 꼼짝하지 않는 그 모양에 비교하여 ‘나는 마치 사막 속의 사다새 같’다고 말한 것도 이해할 만하다.
The bird assumes this attitude for hours at a time, thus befitting the melancholy inactivity to which the psalmist refers when he illustrates the poignancy of his grief by writing: ‘I do resemble the pelican of the wilderness.’jw2019 jw2019
