The application also requested change of the specification of Allanblackia seed oil, in particular concerning: the simplification of the indication of small amounts of the saturated fatty acids: lauric, myristic and palmitic acid to one combined parameter (C12:0 — C14:0 — C16:0); the omission of the indication of small amounts (each below 1 %) of palmitoleic and arachidic acid and inclusion of Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA); the omission of the indication of the iodine value; increasing the maximum limits for trans-fatty acids (TFA) (from ≤ 0,5 % to ≤ 1 %); increasing the maximum limits for the peroxide value (from ≤ 0,8 to ≤ 1,0 meq/kg); increasing the maximum limits for the unsaponifiable matter (from ≤ 0,1 % to ≤ 1 %).

Overwegende dat, bij schrijven van 19 december 1980, België de Commissie heeft verzocht de procedure in te leiden geregeld in artikel 7 van Verordening (EEG) nr. 2784/79 om vast te stellen of het apparaat genaamd "FINNIGAN-Incos 2000 Data System", bestemd om gebruikt te worden in het kader van een farmacologische studie van de rol van de vorming van prostaglandinen en andere metabolieten van arachidonzuur in lichaamsdelen en hun betrokkenheid bij ziekteprocessen, al dan niet als een wetenschappelijk apparaat dient te worden beschouwd en, indien het antwoord bevestigend luidt, of momenteel in de Gemeenschap apparaten met gelijke wetenschappelijke waarde worden vervaardigd;

Op 18 juni 1999 heeft de onderneming Abbott Laboratories (nu Suntory Limited, Japan) bij de bevoegde Nederlandse instanties een verzoek ingediend voor een vergunning om arachidonzuur-rijke olie van Mortierella alpina als nieuw voedselingrediënt in de handel te brengen.
