The Geneva Progress Report recorded that, at the close of the 10MSP, Turkey had 22,788 stockpiled anti-personnel mines that remained to be destroyed, that these were “Area Denial Anti-Personnel Mines” (ADAM) which require special handling because they contain depleted uranium, and that a contract had been signed on 16 November 2010 with the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA) for the destruction of these mines.
