The citizen’s right to withhold personal data, and the resultant ban on obtaining, collecting, and accessing information other than that indispensable in a democratic country, as well as the right to restrict access to information about oneself, and the right to demand that false, incomplete, or unlawfully obtained information be corrected or deleted (art. 51 of the Constitution) are laid down in considerable detail in the Act of 29 August 1997 on the Protection of Personal Data (Journal of Laws of 2002, No. 101, item 926, as amended).
