Tijdens de opstand tegen Maximinus was hij als ex consul onderhandelaar tussen de senaat en Gordianus I Africanus.

In de "Res Gestae Divi Saporis" wordt zijn dood als volgt omschreven: "toen wij (Shapor I) nog maar pas het rijk regeerden bracht Gordianus Caesar in het hele rijk een leger bijeen vanuit het rijk van de Gothen en de Germanen en marcheerde naar Babylonia [Assyrie] (Asuristan), tegen het rijk van Iran en tegen beschrijft is de auteur van boek XI (XIII) uit de reeks die bekend staat als de Sibyllijnse Orakels.
