A global sign, far more ominous than the thunderings of Mount Vesuvius, is serving notice that this present world order is facing imminent destruction.
“The ancients,” says the book Pompei, “had only a vague idea of the volcanic nature of Vesuvius and were accustomed to considering it a verdant mountain where thick woods were interspersed with delightful vineyards.”
Examples include the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, the plague that occurred during the Middle Ages and the tsunami which struck large parts of Asia in 2004.
