Trenutačna organizacija i struktura Vojnog stožera Europske unije (EUMS), ne uzima u obzir broj njegovih novih zadaća.

(a) ‚pomorske snage pod vodstvom Europske unije (EUNAVFOR’ znači vojni glavni stožeri Europske unije i nacionalni kontingenti koji pridonose operaciji Europske unije ‚Atalanta’, njihovi brodovi, zrakoplovi i sredstva;
(a) “European Union-led naval force (EUNAVFOR)” shall mean EU military headquarters and national contingents contributing to the EU operation “Atalanta”, their ships, aircrafts and assets;

Ne dovodeći u pitanje odredbe članka 3. stavka 1., ova se Odluka primjenjuje od dana imenovanja prvog Predsjedatelja, a najkasnije od dana početka primjene Odluke o uspostavi vojnog stožera Europske unije (1) i načelno prije kraja lipnja 2001.
Without prejudice to the provisions of Article 3(1), this Decision shall apply from the date on which the first Chairman is appointed, not later than the date of application of the Decision on the establishment of the Military Staff of the European Union(1) and in principle before the end of June 2001.

Vijeće je 7. travnja 2008. Odlukom 2008/298/ZVSP ( 1 ) izmijenilo Odluku 2001/80/ZVSP od 22. siječnja 2001. o osnivanju Vojnog stožera Europske unije ( 2 ) kako bi odredilo, inter alia, zadaće Vojnog stožera Europske unije (EUMS) u vezi s operativnim centrom EU-a.
On 7 April 2008, by Decision 2008/298/CFSP ( 1 ) the Council amended Decision 2001/80/CFSP of 22 January 2001 on the establishment of the Military Staff of the European Union ( 2 ) to specify, inter alia, the tasks of the Military Staff of the European Union (EUMS) in relation to the EU Operations Centre.
